Silver gilt dish from Tabaristan, south of the Caspian Sea, where after the Muslim conquest of Iran metalwork production continued to reflect the preceding Persian culture of the Sassanid Empire during roughly one century. On this dish a ruler in Sassanian costume and his wife are seated on a sofa, surrounded by musicians, under an overhanging vine with ripe grapes. over a fire, all items needed for an outdoor banquet. Diameter: 19,7 cm. Tabaristan, northern Iran, 8th century

Elles manipulent des rubans ondulés. Dans le champ, quatre rosettes. La base du col est ornée d'un anneau à décor plumé. Argent partiellement doré. Art Sassanide, VIe-VIIe siècles.
