This lovely animation was produced by the creative team of ODDesign Developmen Inc. It was inspired by a picture book by the famous Taiwanese author and illustrator Jimmy Liao. The short won first prize at the Berlin Film Festival in 2007.
Emile Cohl - Fantasmagorie 1908 _ Considered by many film historians to be the very first animated cartoon, Émile Cohl’s “Fantasmagorie” (1908) is one of the earliest examples of hand-drawn animation. The animation was drawn on paper, then shot onto negative film. The title is in reference to the “fantasmograph,” a mid-nineteenth century variant of the magic lantern that projected ghostly images on to surrounding walls.
Rooty Toot Toot (1952) - a story about lust and murder told with a jazzy song and score. Music arranged by Phil Moore, one of the first African-American musicians to compose for Hollywood movies. John Hubley hired a ballerina, Olga Ludnick, to perform a reference dance for animator Art Babbitt. The film garnered UPA their second Academy Award.
