The end of the Blue Squadrons
On February 27, 1944, on the Bobruisk area (current Belarus), the Bf 109G-6 piloted by Lieutenant Segurola, from the Fifth Blue Squad, back from an escort mission, is hit by the anti-aircraft artillery before the presence of two Fw 190A-3 from JG51, which would bear witness to the event. It was the last loss of a member of the Blue Squadrillas and the only one of a Spanish pilot aboard a Bf 109G-6. Shortly after, the Fifth Squad would receive the repatriation order.
Air War in Morocco (I)
On May 9, 1927, the young lieutenant Joaquín García-Morato, called to become, years later, the greatest "ace" of Spanish aviation of all time, made an emergency landing when his DH-9 was hit by ground fire during their action in support of the columns of Solans, Mola and Capaz in the Kabyle of Beni Derkul, during the war in Morocco. The Airco DH-9, built under license in Guadalajara, was, together with the Breguet 14, the main support aircraft of the Spanish Army during the 1920s.

On July 5, 1924, Captain Eduardo González-Gallarza's Breguet 14, in a low supply flight over the encircled position of Cobba Darsa (Morocco), was hit by enemy fire, seriously injuring the pilot. Despite this, the plane managed to return to its base in Rio Lau, being Gallarza rewarded for his action with the Laureate Cross of San Fernando.
First Victory
On April 6, 1937, Ensign Günther Lützow of the Condor Legion, at the controls of a brand new Messerschmitt Bf-109A on a free-hunting mission over Bilbao, came across a Letov S-231 that had lost its way from a formation of four in a transfer of planes to the northern front. Minutes later, the young Republican pilot Juan Olmos, 18 years old, jumped out of his burning plane over Ochandiano, being the first combat victim of what was called to be one of the best fighter planes of all the times.
